format of my vids[ 11 votes ]
1. keep posting to picasaweb.google or justracing, 320x240 window 0 / 0%
2. Bigger is better. i use firefox and want it in 640x480 11 / 100%

my vids are 640x480 but they appear in a small 320x240 window when played back from picasweb.google or justracing. I've discovered that i can upload my divx vids to stage6.divx.com and have them play full size in firefox's web browser (http://www.mozilla.com/firefox/). Vote in the poll for your pref.

if you install firefox and the divx web player, you can see my slush4 vid full size at http://stage6.divx.com/user/everbruin/video/1875710/slush4-a utoX

Saw your higher-res video. I definitely prefer it. So this new Stage6 DIVX site lets you upload videos free without pulling a YouTube quality/size butcher? Smile I also discovered a site called Brightcove yesterday, which looks like another promising alternative.

Too many people are having trouble with the Justracing site (myself included) so I'm looking for a new way to share my videos while maintaining decent quality.

You could always stick a server in a colocation datacenter and just put your vids there. Laughing Then you'd be begging for money to keep it running, just like me!

Honestly, my preference is for something that allows you to download the video in some decent format (preferably the original format) so I can play it back locally. I hate the pauses while waiting for the buffer to catch up.

On justracing, the video may show up in the wrong resolution unless you enter the resolution in the size fields. Try doing that.

Justracing also allows you to download instead of viewing in the browser.

The big vid is much nicer than the little format.

FYI -- it works great on Leopard with Safari and Firefox and also works fine on Vista (in Parallels) with IE, Firefox, and Safari.

thanks guys, brightcove looks good but can files be saved?
i'll likely post to stage6.divx as it's free, allows file saving, and is likely robust.

justracing is a horrible site for videos. I've watched 1/2 of one video. The other billion times I've tried that website is great if I want to lock up my browser. Done it on 3 xp machines and 2 vistas. I like seeing other people's videos without having to dl them.

Well, if anyone finds a site that doesn't require you to sign away your copyright to the video, other than justracing, please let me know.
