Hi all,

Just getting started in the Bay Area, used to autocross some time ago in the southern california region in C stock street tire (SK2CS as it was known) in a '00 Miata.

Getting a feel for things and how the bay area runs its events...was curious if there are practice days held before the actual event day or if the event day is 'it'? Wanted to attend a few events and possibly get ride-alongs if people are willing, but haven't figured out how the schedule is arranged.

Thanks for any help, in advance!

At the top of the forum's pages are logos for SFR and American Autocross events. Click on either one to get their schedules.
For SFR it's:
Slush Season @ Marina

1. October 4
2. October 31
3. November 22
4. December 5
so there are 3 events left. I think AAS is finished for the year. but check their calendar anyway.

Hi Dan,

Welcome to Nor cal. The schedules that Pat mentioned are in the Northern California Events folder. To answer the other part of your question, we don't have practice days at most events. This past year we did hold a couple of test and tune days, the day before an event. The course was a different course than the event course.

I see. Will have to check the schedule for 2016 and see. I suppose other groups running events could also work as a "practice" since its outside of SoloII.

CSCC used to run a practice/test and tune day on Saturdays. They usually reversed the course with some minor option tweaks here/there. Tended to be a limited availability sort of thing and it was roughly twice the cost of sunday entry, but was handy to get more seat time and practice or introduce new people by allowing passengers.

Thanks for the heads up! Will dig into the schedule. Season starts in January, correct?

Not sure exactly when the bay area chapter of SFR SCCA is starting in 2016. Last year we started in Feb.

peahioi, thanks for the heads up! Likewise Dan, appreciate the info. Just set up my membership today and am in the process of finalizing my numbers. Posted this in the event forum, hope that was a good place for it.
