Ok, we are new to the sport, ran our first event on 10-10-10 Slush Round 1 and are hooked!

Ok, the Question of the day!

Same Track, same driver...

Which car would get around the track the fastest!

1)

2006 Mazda 3s Wagon 2.3L 5-Speed Manual

Upgrades:

Full Synthetic Engine/Trans Oil
CAI
Cat Back Exhaust
RE760 Sport 205/50/17

2)

Upgrades:

Full Synthetic Engine/Trans Oil
CAI
Turbo Cat Back Exhaust

I would think the Jetta will be faster with equal driver, it makes more power and has wider tires. I never drove one tho.

Mazda 3.

The Jetta will be off-boost 66-75% of the time, and "lowered" suspension... sorry but that's a big red flag. Unless it was designed to actually improve handling and not just "lower" the car... Most of your aftermarket "lowering kits" are junk and can actually degrade the handling (for example, too low + too soft + extreme manuevers = riding on the bump stops)..

What makes you think that? I would assume with its tiny turbo, peak boost would be <3k rpm...

Our Mazda 3 rides on the bump stops. I call it bump stop suspension tuning Laughing

I think the Jetta will win at auto-x mainly because 205 is just too small for a Mazda 3

Haven't seen too many Jettas at autox, and ones I have are pretty slow. Plenty of fast 3s out there, that's all I'm basing it on.

I spose if the turbo is small you might get some use out of it, but since half of autox is braking or turning, especially SFR courses... I thought I was being generous with my estimate. On faster courses the turbo might have time to spool up though.

How are the brakes on both? Them's important too.

One thing to consider though... the jetta's got a boost controller, that automatically puts it into a higher class...

LMAO what??? There are NO other fast 3's other than Mack's.

And I would run the Jetta. Should be pretty fun Smile Tires on the mazda are too small like Justin said.
