After a 100 mile drive to Marina I was greeted at the gate with the news that the event had been cancelled due to an accident - no further explanation. I assume that there must have been someone injured, so I sincerely hope it wasn't too serious. Now more that a day later still nothing has been posted as to what happened. Those of us intending to run in the afternoon would like to know what did happen.

It may sound sort of selfish now but I was really looking forward to this event as it was my 75th birthday and I had given myself a new set of wheels and tires that I would be running for the first time. Oh well, that will have to wait until next time.

To be honest, it is selfish.

There was a car with stuck throttle that hit some paddocked cars. The decision was made to call off the event since it would have pushed us too far back if the event had re-started.

I drove more than 100 miles to this event too. When race organizers decide to cancel, I trust them that it is for a good reason. Hope you to see you at a future event.

Bolded is very important.

To OP: The next event is this coming weekend with AAS. Hope to see you out there.

There are processes in place and they were/are being followed. If the race organizers want to share then they can, but given past history with incidents I doubt they would be inclined to. This is why what was bolded is important to not only read, but to understand.

It's unfortunate to have driven a far distance to get turned away at the gate. There were people present who were from much, much further out who didn't get to take a single run. Sucks, but happens.

What Tony said here. The details of what happened in the event should not be shared publicly on a forum or on social media. That's how words get twisted and rumors spread.

I'm actually in agreement that some things should be shared for a few reasons. Absolute transparency doesn't work, but having control of the narrative does. Absolutely zero communication makes the game of telephone even worse.

But again, it's race organizers decision for all of this.

First, I was not there, but I know many people that were there...2nd, So it's easy for me to support the organizers decision 100%...OK< So there was an accident and it took 3-4 hours to clean up, by then the event was too late to continue...It's a bad situation and could have happened to anyone and any other organization. Yes it sucks that many people came a long way, but there is no way to plan for an accident...If you know anyone that was there, call them if you want to know what happened. It will not be discussed on any public forum for many not so obvious reasons...
