A buddy of mine wants to buy an E36 M3 anybody have one? He stalks Craigslist, so anything listed there I am sure he has already seen. I also think he wants a pretty stock one. Thanks

Not for me a buddy of mine as been looking for one. I am a school teacher and know better than to dabble in the BMW world. They are to expensive to race, maintain, and be fast in class.

I said stock but he really just wants to buy something that is reliable, and will pass smog without having to take it and get a special smog.

maybe tired oxy sensors? My van barely passed and the smog tech suggested new ones might help. Mine had 130,000+ miles, though.

96+ 2001+ they don't even do a sniffer test any more, just plugin.

my 94 miata passes but it's pretty close on some of the numbers if I don't warm it up really well first...

It's 01+ for the plug-in OBD-II test.

My '98 328 was always pretty close on HCs, but otherwise fine. Get the cat good and hot before the test!

On topic: don't know of any E36 M3s for sale at the moment, but I'll keep my eyes open.

Are you sure about that? IIRC the line is 2000 for plug-in. Not sure why.
