A handout for newbies seems like a good idea. Give to anyone registering for a weekend m'ship.
List some of the major important rules - everyone must work, helmet & seatbelt required, keep hands inside, no phones or cameras on course, etc..

If you want to make a handout and make copies, more power to you Smile

This is literally passing it off. Live with it.

Handouts are a waste of time and will be found in the trash after the event. While they are standing in the registration line all it would take is for those running registration to simply remind them to sign the worker sheet as they hand them their weekend membership form to fill out. Maybe have someone standing by the worker sheets asking if people have signed up or during the Newbie Course Walk have that person remind them to sign the worker sheet. JMHO

...or simply a sign, with big letters at the top saying "READ THIS!" at the front of the reg line? People have enough time while waiting to be registered to review a white board with the basic responsibilities spelled out in very, very big letters Smile

I still doubt people will read it. We've had signs saying who was allowed to register at what times for a few events. People ignored it.

I sent Erik some stuff I typed out, it got a bit long though. Yes maybe handouts will get trashed, maybe a large sign is better, but it needs to be short in that case. People might read it, they might not. If they don't, and they don't work, they will be DQ'ed and banned eventually, so their choice...

Maybe just a sign or notice posted SIGN UP FOR WORK - EVERYONE MUST WORK etc..

I like Doug's idea for having someone work at the worker signup location to remind everyone to sign up. We just have to set the line up to pass by the worker signup station instead of straight out. The only problem with that will be the pre-registered people who can cut in front of the line. The station worker could also help make sure that everyone signs up in the correct work group.

When I was going through the results to see who worked and who didn't, I found that a lot of people in the street tire, index and novice classes signed up for work in the same run group that their open class equivalents worked. IE Novice CS, or Index CS signed up to work with CS instead of "Novice" or "Index". It was a PITA finding them in the wrong work group. Some of these were experienced people too.

For what it's worth.

Hi John, I agree this is a good idea to follow-up on.
