I looked around a little bit but can't really find what the acronyms mean for the events. Can someone point me in the right direction? Do I need to do anything to attend an event or do I just show up and register?

Do you mean acronyms like "STX"? STX = Street Touring Xtreme. It's in the SCCA Solo rule book, which is found on SCCA's website (SCCA.com). The 2014 rule book is still in draft form, but the acutal rules in it are correct. There's nothing you need to do to attend. If you're not an SCCA member you will need to purchase a weekend membership at the event when you show up to register. It's $15 for the weekend membership and $35 to participate, cash or check only. If you don't have a SNELL 2000 or newer helmet, we'll have some loaner helmets available.

Yup that's one of them thanks. Also the scca and the other one that is the header for the Alameda events . I'll definitely check out that site. Thank you . I used my motorcycle helmet last time I hope that is good enough. Xtreme sounds like pro's! Can I run With Fellow noobs? Lol it's okay though I would just be out there to have fun. I know I have no chance of getting the best time. My car is awesome but not that awesome lol. Now I just gotta remember to bring cash.

As long as your helmet has SNELL approval you can use it. We do have novice Street Touring class. You'd be NS STX and run against all of the other novice Street Touring drivers.

You can run in the novice group instead of "fun"

Just as an FYI, someone brought a BMW X5 out to an event a few years ago and put it seriously up on two wheels, even though it fell into the acceptable range. He got the dirty side back down first, but it was not one of autocrossing's better moments.

Thanks Charlie. That's good to know. I know it's not ideal to drive an suv. I just wanted to be able to see if that option would be there since she is more comfortable in her vehicle.
